Why I'm Running
I grew up in Halton Hills, living in Acton for over 20 years. I've served four years as a Local Councillor representing Acton where I've fought for local planning decisions, against aggressive driving and sat on the committee that is cleaning up Fairy Lake, among other priorities.
Every election is important but this more so than most. The economy has stalled growth in the short term, but the Vision Georgetown Development will come and with it over 20,000 new residents to our community, a roughly 24% increase to our population over the 2021 census. The Town is forecast to grow to 132,000 people by 2051 - a significant increase with impacts to the feel of our community and the services the Town provides.
When I talk to residents in our community, I hear things like, "I like the small town feel" and "I want people to drive on my street like it's a place where people live". I hear people struggling with the cost of living. I hear people wanting a fire department that is equiped to help them when they or their neighbours need help and police that respond quickly and effectively.
Halton Hills is a two-tier municipality - there is the Town and there is the Region. We are the smallest municipality in Halton Region so we have the least number of seats. Regional Council has 24 seats - Halton Hills has three.
This election, two of our long standing Regional Councillors are retiring after many years of service. Regional Council is organized like Halton Hills Council, just much bigger (over 10x the Operating Budget). I believe a person running for Regional Council should know how to advocate for policy, day one. They should understand what it's like being a Councillor, the events you need to show up to, the emails and phone calls you need to return and what to do about them. It's a big role and an important one for our town.
With my experience as a Local Councillor, I believe I am up for the challenge. I am currently the only previously elected individual running for this seat.

Voting Information
Wards 1 & 2 in Halton Hills include the communities of Acton, Limehouse, Glen Williams, Stewarttown, Terra Cotta, Ballinafad, Hornby, Norval, Speyside and the rest of Rural Halton Hills.
If you live, own, or rent property in Halton Hills, are a Canadian citizen, and are 18+, you can vote in the upcoming election.
You’ll be voting for Mayor, Regional Councillors, Local Councillors, and School Board Trustees.
